Stewardship in the Crown

Stewardship in the context of a 10 million acre landscape that involves Canada, the US, and First Nations is multi-dimensional. Many communities, businesses, government agencies, education centers, individuals, non-profit organizations, and foundations are involved in conservation partnership activities and projects that foster a healthy environment, livable communities, and vibrant local economies in the Crown of the Continent. Each partner has its own unique definition of stewardship.

On this website, our working definition of "regional stewardship" is public-private partnerships efforts that are fostering a healthy environment, livable communities, and vibrant economies in the Crown of the Continent. A few examples of collaborative stewardship within the Crown are provided below. Also visit the websites of individual organizations and read about the amazing stewardship results they are achieving. For other examples of place-based stewardship efforts in the crown to sustain and enhance the region's cultural, natural, and historic assets, check out the stewardship page on the Geotourism MapGuide site.
