The Crown

The Crown of the Continent is a magical place that spans the Rocky Mountains from northern Montana to southern Alberta and British Columbia. The Blackfeet Nation called this region the Backbone of the World. It is home to Triple Divide Peak, headwaters to the Pacific, Atlantic, and Arctic oceans. This 10 million-acre landscape boasts one of the largest intact ecosystems in North America and is home to the highest non-coastal density of grizzly bears in North America. Plant communities here range from old-growth cedar-hemlock forest to short-grass prairie. The Crown also has a rich, diverse cultural heritage and storied history. This is truly a rare and special place, worthy of the international recognition it has received.
